Restore into the New Year: A Heart-Focused Practice with Ani Binkley and Carrie Dennison

A common practice in the new year is to set a resolution, or a specific goal for the new year ahead. The problem with New Year's resolutions is that they arise from the belief that we need to do something to improve ourselves or our lives; that somehow we are not enough just as we are and that our happiness is tied to attaining something we don't already have.

The yogic tradition offers a refreshing alternative to the New Year's resolution: the practice of sankalpa, or connecting with the true desire of the heart. A sankalpa practice begins from the premise that you are already whole, and that all you need to do is learn to listen to the quiet inner voice that resides in the heart and connects us to our true essence.

This New Year's Day, join Roots & River Yoga teachers, Ani and Carrie for a sankalpa practice that will focus on relaxing into being. Through restorative yoga we come to know ourselves in the purest sense away from the need to incessantly "do" or accomplish or achieve. We connect with the human "being" rather than the human "doing" we often confuse ourselves with, which allows us to connect with a deeper wisdom. Through restorative postures, guided breathwork and meditation, and through sound bath, participants will be guided to connect with and listen to the subtle wisdom and guidance of the heart to set a focus and intention for the new year. This helps shape and determine how we show up in our lives and what action we take in the year to come in accordance with our truest desires.

Participants will leave relaxed and refreshed with tools to navigate the new year with calm clarity and connection to their inner guidance. Come ready to relax and connect to the wisdom of the heart!

Cost: $35
