Contemplative Yin Yoga is a new class on our schedule that meets weekly on Mondays from 7:30-8:30pm. You can attend in-studio or online using a class pass or membership, like all of our weekly offerings.
Yin Yoga is a slow, contemplative practice that utilizes a series of floor postures that are held passively for 3-5 minutes. This form of physical therapy relies on time and stillness to gently traction and compress connective tissues around the hips, sacrum and spine that "exercises" the fascia and ligament in a unique and needed way to foster ease in the joints.
This Monday evening practice will be a meditative experience. Instructions will be given for each poses, perhaps a text or poem will be read from time to time, but it will be mostly practiced in contemplative silence to really unwind the nervous system and prepare for a restful sleep.
