Foundations of Tai Chi is designed to provide an introduction to the fundamental postures of Tai Chi.
We offer TWO beginner/intro level courses that alternate on our schedule - “Grasp the Sparrow’s Tail” and “The Four Corners.” Each course is 8 weeks long. Feel free to take these intro classes in either order. They both stand alone as introductory courses and work together to build towards more complex sequences.
Once both “Grasp the Sparrow’s Tail” and “The Four Corners” are taken, students can move on to “Tai Chi Form” that we will offer later this summer/fall. Students are free to take the two introductions courses more than once to build confidence.
Class Goals:
Learn and understand the basic movements and principles
Develop proper body alignment and posture for Tai Chi practice.
Cultivate a sense of internal energy and flow.
Improve balance, flexibility, and coordination.
Explore the meditative aspects of Tai Chi.
Class Format:
Warm-up exercises to prepare the body for practice.
Guided instruction and demonstration
Practice drills and combinations to reinforce understanding.
Q&A session for clarification and discussion.
