Intro to Breathwork Circle with Em Chiappinelli

  • Roots & River Yoga 30 West Potomac Street Brunswick, MD, 21716 United States (map)

This workshop is a relaxed, supportive space for folks to dip their toes into the wild world of integrative breathwork.

Breathing underpins our mental, emotional, social, and physical lives, and yet so few of us have a relationship to our own breathing or have taken the time to unpack our breathing patterns. We didn’t grow up knowing how to breathe optimally, and we didn’t learn about the ways our experiences taught our bodies how to breathe (or as is often the case, how not to breathe). So we miss out on the information that comes to us along every inhale and exhale, and the chance to shift our internal experience using just our breath.

Breathwork is blowing up as a buzzword these days. It’s a broad term that covers different breathing techniques and methodologies for having powerful and healing experiences by modifying the way we breathe. Integrative breathwork in particular is a type of breathwork that uses relaxation and paying attention to our breathing to surface and work through unconscious content that we haven’t fully processed yet.

This workshop is for folks who are curious about breathwork and learning more about what is possible by paying better attention to their breathing. It is not a full breathwork journey - it includes three rounds of guided breathing experiential exercises (mini-journeys) with time to talk about your experiences in between each round. We’ll cover breathing observation methods, how to respond to your breathing patterns, and experience some of the pathways of connection that breathing opens up.

All are welcome, even those who have never thought once about their own breathing! Come wearing comfy clothes and bring a water bottle. Note packets will be provided.

Cost: $30

Em Chiappinelli (she/they) is a breathwork facilitator and event organizer who lives in a rural farming community in northern Virginia. She has been in long-term training (1,000+ hrs) for integrative breathwork across multiple training schools and programs, and believes that breathing needs to be the first go-to tool in anyone’s inner work, interpersonal, or survival strategies (including her own!). Em facilitates breathwork sessions for individuals virtually and in-person, and you can read more about the sessions here or reach out directly at hello@everydayalive.com.
