Of Art and Mindfulness with Giselle Georgi

  • Roots & River Yoga 17 West Potomac Street Brunswick, MD, 21716 United States (map)

Have you ever thought to yourself, "I'd love to make art but I get so in my head about it."?

This accessible workshop combines guided meditation and abstract painting, so that you can notice and process the emotions and impulses that come up within you as you detach from the outcome and stay present throughout the process.

This workshop is more about cultivating a warm, playful attitude towards your art and less about 'getting it right'. This exercise is especially valuable for beginner painters and those with anxiety surrounding creative expression in any medium. Awaken and nourish your inner child in a supportive creative environment. All art supplies needed will be provided.

Cost: $45

Giselle Georgi is a multidisciplinary artist, instructor and healer who excels at holding space where creativity and wellness meet. She started her meditation practice at age 15, and has been guiding others in the practice for 9 years. She integrates mindfulness, affirmations, and Zen Buddhist philosophy within her meditations. Giselle recently took a Transcendental Meditation course, and attended an immersive month-long Zen residency program in September at the acclaimed Mountain Cloud Zen Center in New Mexico.

Having studied music from ages 12-21, Giselle blends her knowledge of percussive instruments with her experience in guided meditation to create a soothing, atmospheric and dreamy soundscape which gently invites you to experience your inner world at new depths. Her sound healing technique is unique in that she utilizes a variety of instruments, including her own voice, which is extremely conducive for increasing focus in beginners and those with trouble concentrating.

Giselle loves creating memorable, healing workshops and experiences in the wellness space, and is looking forward to getting to know the NoVa community. She is currently studying for the 200 HR YTT and works as a life coach part time, and a social worker full time.
