At Roots & River Yoga, one of the ways we continue to nurture connection and creativity in our space is through our seasonally rotating gallery of local artists. Supporting the local arts community has always been an important part of our vision, and we love being able to share that with you.

We’re honored to welcome Raya Yeary as our next featured artist, with her work on display from May through August. Raya’s bold, vibrant style brings a fresh energy to the gallery, and we’re excited for you to experience it. To celebrate her installation, we’ll be hosting free open house event. We invite you to stop by, explore the collection, and help us welcome Raya and her work into the studio. Raya Yeary is a Maryland-based artist and the owner of Talon Studio Tattoo, where she has been tattooing professionally since 1996. She holds a BFA in printmaking and sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her creative practice spans tattooing, painting, and graphic art.
Known for her bold, vibrant style, Raya’s work is defined by dynamic patterns, varied line weights, and expressive, bright color palettes. Her pieces carry a strong visual energy while reflecting a deep foundation in fine art and design.
A Maryland native, Raya grew up in Rockville and spent years traveling and working across the country before returning to the state in 2004. She later expanded her practice to include permanent cosmetics in 2012. Today, she continues to create while balancing life as a business owner, artist, and mother. Raya’s work brings a vivid, contemporary voice to the studio gallery, celebrating color, movement, and individuality.
