Yoga Nidra and Sound with Phoebe Hassaine

  • Roots & River Yoga 30 West Potomac Street Brunswick, MD, 21716 United States (map)

Return to the quiet, restorative practice of Yoga Nidra, accompanied by a soothing sound journey with Phoebe, a beloved teacher at Roots & River years ago, who we’re delighted to welcome back to the studio.

Yoga Nidra, often called yogic sleep, is a practice of conscious rest. It offers an invitation to soften out of habitual thought patterns, settle into the body, and explore the inner landscape of your own being. Resting together in community, we create space to slow down, co-regulate, and reconnect with ourselves in a way that feels both grounding and deeply restorative.

As you settle into stillness, the gentle resonance of crystal singing bowls and other sound tools will offer a soft anchor for the wandering mind. Let the sounds wash over you as you release tension, deepen into rest, and experience the quiet nourishment of stillness, sound, and shared presence.

Cost: $30

Phoebe is an E-RYT 500 and NASM-CPT with over 2,000 hours of teaching experience across Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Yin Yoga, and private and group strength training. Her work weaves together functional anatomy, the subtle energetic body, and the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine to help students cultivate curiosity, deepen their relationship with their bodies, and discover a more sustainable sense of balance and well-being.

With a special interest in the intersection of science and subtle awareness, Phoebe brings this holistic approach into her Yoga Nidra and sound bath offerings. Her Yoga Nidra practice is rooted in the Panchamaya Kosha system, which explores the five interconnected layers of human experience. Through guided meditation, intentional body scans, and gentle awareness of sensation, she invites students to journey inward, connect with their life force, and settle into a state of deep rest and conscious, loving awareness.

Phoebe has been facilitating sound baths for over five years, drawing on a lifelong connection to music and healing sound. Her musical background includes the flute, piano, guitar, double-drone Native flutes, and hang drum, allowing her to create immersive soundscapes that support relaxation, inner stillness, and connection. Inspired by nature and its cyclical rhythms, Phoebe holds space for students to slow down, soften, and reconnect with the innate wisdom of their bodies.
