Push Hands Series
9 Week Series
Thursdays, September 24th - November 19th
1:45-2:45pm

Push Hands (Tui Shou, 推手) is a partner-training method from Tai Chi Chuan that teaches students how to develop sensitivity, balance, timing, and whole-body coordination. In this beginner-friendly class, students will learn the fundamental principles of listening energy (ting jin), maintaining structure, yielding to force, and using relaxation rather than muscular strength.

Through a series of simple partner exercises, students will explore how to remain balanced under pressure, recognize and neutralize incoming force, and develop greater awareness of movement and connection. Training is cooperative and progressive, allowing students to build confidence and skill in a safe and supportive environment.

This class is ideal for students who want to deepen their understanding of Tai Chi principles through hands-on experience. Push Hands helps bridge the gap between solo forms practice and practical application while improving balance, coordination, and body awareness.

Students will learn:

  • Basic Push Hands patterns and drills

  • Proper posture and body alignment

  • How to maintain balance while moving with a partner

  • The principles of yielding, sticking, and following

  • Developing sensitivity through touch

  • Using whole-body movement instead of isolated strength

No previous Push Hands experience is required. This class is suitable for beginners and provides a strong foundation for future Tai Chi training

Cost: $162 (9 week series)

Pre-registration before September 24th is required. Because one class builds on the next, we do not allow mid-series registrations.
